History

The Morwell Junior Football Club formed in 2016 uniting the Morwell Tigers Junior Football Club and the Morwell Youth Club Junior Football Clubs. Following the positive inaugural season the Morwell Junior Football Club has continued to be successful on the field. The 2018 season ended with the Under 14’s taking out the premiership against Leongatha, and the Under 10’s, Under 12 Royals and the Youth Girls side all taking part in the finals series.

With the restructure of age groups as of 2023, the Morwell Junior Football Club has fielded two teams in the Under 10’s and Under 12’s and looking to extend this to the Under 14’s competition in the Central Gippsland Junior Football League as well as growing our Youth Girls side for female players aged 14-18 under the newly formed Female Football Gipplsand League.

The focus into the future will be on growth, with plans in place to work closely with the schools within the town to put footy back on the map and grow participation to a point where the club aims to field three teams in each of the mixed competitions while continuing our involvement with the development of girls football in the Latrobe Valley.
